We traveled to Italy for our honeymoon and holy moly, the architectural inspiration was absolutely unreal. After spending a week in Milan and Bellagio, we headed to Cinque Terre to explore the beach towns in the Italian Riviera.
Cinque Terre is even more picturesque than it appears on Google. When the sun sets, it's positively magical.
It's no wonder the idyllic towns have recently instated legislation to limit tourism. It was significantly more crowded than we expected but the villages maintain their quaint romance despite a growing amount of visitors.
Cinque Terre or "Five Lands" is comprised of 5 neighboring seaside villages. They are not accessible by car and the area lacks a corporate presence, two things that I absolutely loved.
Me and Mimi, the dog that lived at our bed & breakfast in Levanto
We stayed at the Agriturismo Costa di Faraggiana, a bed and breakfast in the hills overlooking downtown Levanto, a small beach town north of Cinque Terre. The views were incredible and I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone traveling in the area! They kindly drove us daily to the train station for the quick trip to Cinque Terre as well as to and from downtown Levanto.
At Agriturismo Costa di Faraggiana
Our first stop in Cinque Terre was Monterossa Al Mare. After a quick Instagram break, we started the walking journey from Monterosso to Vernazza, the next of the 5 towns.
My gold gladiator sandals were clearly not made for hiking and one shoe broke so we headed back. Eric bought me flip flops from a beach-side vendor and we stopped to enjoy a cocktail on the beach before taking off via train to Vernazza.
Vernazza was the perfect place for a romantic apertivo (Italian happy hour) before heading to Manarola to see the iconic hills at sunset.
All of the photos in this post were taken by my handsome husband, Eric Constantinides.
