New designs are bringing fresh life to the original Capsule concept - jewelry inspired by the Phelan Building in downtown San Francisco.
The Phelan Building was home to the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts for over 30 years. I walked daily down the marble-lined halls while learning how to design and handcraft the pieces in this timeless collection.
I found myself endlessly inspired inside the historic building. Capsule was born out of my personal connection to this phenomenal piece of architecture, 2 years ago.
As the San Francisco Chronicle wrote about the Capsule collection:
"As a former graphic designer, Annachich Jewelry founder Becky Johnson is drawn to geometric shapes and repetition. With her most recent line, the Capsule collection, those themes hit close to home.
Johnson launched her company in 2010. Two years later, she was interning with the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in San Francisco's historic Phelan Building, to which Johnson felt a strong connection. When the school was evicted from the triangular building, Johnson photographed many of its architectural details and created a collection to pay homage.
The 5-Hex cuff and Descendente earrings include replicas of tiles found in the Phelan Building; the Dot Pendant necklace was inspired by marble details adorning the building's ceiling. The handmade sterling silver and brass pieces quietly carry on the legacy of the local landmark."
Capsule is near and dear to my heart so I thought she deserved some new designs.
You'll find more nostalgic tile shapes appearing in bold and unexpected ways in this Capsule update.
